Water Fitness creatively uses water’s natural resistance and buoyancy to provide a low-impact workout that is both fun and effective.
Aquatic workouts aim to improve all the components of fitness:
muscular endurance and strength,
body composition,
aerobic capacity,
flexibility or joint mobility,
improving neuromuscular coordination.
Whether you are a man or woman, starting your fitness journey or an avid exerciser, rehabbing an injury or being mindful of the impact on your joints, living with a chronic illness, or maintaining a healthy body, water fitness is a beautiful mode of exercise that everyone can enjoy at their fitness ability. What you put into your water workout is what you get out of it – challenge yourself or be kind to yourself! Either way, the water will benefit your mind and body!

New to the island, I had read about Michelle’s water aerobics classes even before we moved here! I was keen to renew this exercise I had done years ago in Toronto but was really looking forward to this time doing it outside in the Bermuda sunshine! I started in October 2021 and have continued through ‘the winter’ in the heated pool, rain or shine. Michelle leads her classes in a creative, attentive and energetic manner and keeps us going with her enthusiasm. She is a professional who takes individual situations into account and gives direction accordingly. Michelle has been very welcoming to my mother-in-law, daughter and son all of whom have joined classes when visiting. Not only am I thrilled to be exercising in the water but I am delighted to have found an eclectic group of women who can share a laugh. Water aerobics is a firm commitment which I work around when making plans and it has become an important part of my week.

As I work directly with cancer patient, sometimes I feel very drained. It is more than the physical care, it is the mental and emotional aspects. I am not very good at selfcare but I am learning to put time in for healing. Your class energizes me. And, I sleep well after.

I have a physical disability and water aerobics has been the best form of exercise for me as I am unable to do several forms of exercise on land. It helps me maintain a healthy weight and keeps my body
strong and limber. Water aerobics is a full body workout without any stress on the joints. I would recommend it to anyone of any age or physical situation. As long as you can get in a pool you can do water aerobics.

I can work at my own level completely unselfconsciously, safeguarding any old injuries and preventing new ones.

I’ve been with Michelle’s Fluid Fitness for 5+ years. I love it! It’s the one thing I do for myself that I do not compromise on, it’s my time. Earlier this year I broke my wrist and could not swim. Three months of healing, three casts and numerous physio appointments brought me to within 75% recovery. One month back in the pool with Fluid Fitness and I’m at 98% and getting stronger every day. For fun, exercise, strength training and camaraderie, Fluid Fitness is the place to be!

Michelle offers plenty of modifications to make the moves as easy or as difficult to get the workout you want.

Water Aerobics is an important part of my exercise programme. It gives me a great workout without the high impact of other forms of exercise. I have been doing water aerobics for many years and Michelle’s classes are a great combination of a good workout and lots of fun! Afterwards I feel energised, stretched and ready for my day!

I've had three shoulder surgeries from years of playing baseball. Getting in the water to exercise, while modifying some exercises and being mindful of what I can and can't do has really made my shoulder feel better.
