Why learn to swim as an adult?
Swimming is a non-impact total body workout that burns a phenomenal number of calories. Although great both for cardiovascular and resistance work, swimming is very gentle and safe.
Good swimmers make effortless swimming look easy, but in reality they are practicing specific learned techniques. The great news is that you are never too old to learn those techniques, whether you just want to be more confident in the water, able to jump off the boat with your friends or complete a triathlon. Yes, even as an adult, you can learn to swim!
Private lessons with an experienced coach are the most effective way to learn those techniques. Lessons can be designed to your specific goals, taking into account your specific swimming experience and comfort. Elinor recommends lessons at least twice a week to learn or refine your swimming skills.
All swimmers must wear goggles and it is recommended that if your hair is not very short, you also wear a swim cap.
Elinor Lucas
Elinor has been a competitive swimmer since the age of 9 and teaching swimming since her teens. She is an ASCA level 3 qualified swim coach and was the head coach of a Bermuda swim team. Elinor has taught and coached adult swimmers with a broad range of abilities, from complete beginners to Ironmen triathletes. Her laid-back, easy-going approach, together with her emphasis on technique and her love for swimming, makes learning to swim or learning to swim better a non-intimidating and enjoyable experience.
Elinor states “I’m a very technique-oriented swim coach. At the same time, I understand and respect that different people have different levels of comfort with the water and work with that to get them to their goals. I want the people I teach to love swimming as much as I do.”
Please book the first session online. Once the booking is received, you will then correspond with Elinor about your goals. She will advise you about increasing the number of sessions, if needed. 10% discount given when booking 5 or more sessions at once.
